This page should give you a small demonstration about what is possible with just some changes in the CSS files.
To achieve these results, you need to change the TS to
plugin.tx_rgsmoothgallery_pi1 {
pathToJdgalleryCSS = EXT:rgsmoothgallery/res/css/jd.galleryColor.css
pathToSlightboxCSS = EXT:rgsmoothgallery/res/css/slightboxColor.css
}

These things got changed:

• Icons for the previous & next image and for the Slimbox-view have been positioned in the right bottom corner.
• Link "Thumbnails" has been positioned on the left side
  
• Some color changes (from black to blue)
  
• Change of the slimbox view (colors & icons)
  

All other settings like the opacity of the thumbnails and hiding the InfoSlideZone have been done in the flexform configuration.
